Newcastle University has over 25000 students and specialises in public research.
After the publication of the HE report on the experiences of international students in UK University, Newcastle University were keen to understand how they could develop an international mind-set and become more cross culturally competent.
Their ambition was to ensure they could provide an excellent student experience but also infuse their teaching and learning content and styles with cross cultural principles.

Key Deliverables
- Learning interventions on cross cultural awareness to groups of selected stake holders from the registrar’s office to lectures to counselling services.
- The programme was then also opened to people from all disciplines.
Impact
Apart from building knowledge on cross cultural competencies, the learning interventions highlighted the business case for internationalization. Key themes and actions were identified and formed the basis of the universities priorities on their internationalization agenda.
